paul chambers was part of the john coltrane plume for a while and an incredible musician in his own right however outshadowed by the giant stepper i studied coltrane a lot and had an intense obsession with him trying to figure out how to make notes do what he did with them drawn to his perfectionism which ultimately runied music for me for a long while and in some ways i never recovered because i still can't go down the road of study i have to just sit down and make music with whatever is around me and go inside and outside the key and the time signature with my ear instead of all the theory i learned
